The Big Knit

Published on 19 October 2019 09:20 AM

Over 2 million woolly hats have been produced nationwide and are now hitting the shops on innocent smoothie bottles.

The Big Knit is a joint campaign between Age UK and innocent drinks to help vulnerable older people. With over a decade of support from knitters up and down the country, the campaign has raised vital funds to support local and national winter projects to help older people keep warm and well in winter through befriending visits, emergency cold weather support and other vital services.

As part of innocent’s promotion they have produced posters and an ad running on TV and in many cinemas including, locally, Odeon and Showcase.

Loneliness can be a big problem in a later life. The hats on the smoothies raise money for activities at Age UK Coventry’s Craft and Computer Centre where people like Eleonore & June can get together to learn new skills and have a chat and a laugh.

If you've ever bought a smoothie or knitted a hat, thank you for being part of the Big Knit. You're a legend.

If you would like to become a future knitter or would like to offer your support for lonely older people then please let us know.
