Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and support the work we do in the community.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone can be a volunteer. We have a wide range of roles which suit different people and different skills.
How much time do I need to give?
Our roles are varied, so whether you only have a few hours to spare, or a whole day, please get in touch and we can find a role to suit you. It takes time to recruit, induct and train our volunteers, which is why we ask for a minimum commitment of six months.
What will I get out of volunteering?
- Gaining new skills
- Improving your CV
- Increased confidence
- Relevant training courses will be provided
- Regular supervision and support given
- Meeting new people
- Supporting older clients
- Making a difference within your community
- Being part of a vibrant volunteering team
- Travel and other expenses will be reimbursed
Covid-19 safety measures
All of our roles, and new starters, are risk-assessed if the role is office-based or involves visiting clients. Our offices have sanitising stations and a reduced capacity to maintain social distancing, and when current Government guidelines allow client visits, our volunteers are provided with appropriate PPE. During lockdowns and peaks in hospital admissions, we have suspended visits to clients' homes.
