Older Adult Support Volunteer

Help improve the wellbeing of our clients in Croydon by mentoring with our Personal Independence Coordinator service

As a mentor, you will support and encourage a client to achieve pre-arranged goals, designed by our PIC team to increase independence, wellbeing and confidence. This could be:

Supporting clients to access services, activities, and social events in the community:

  • Assisting a client to access public transport
  • Supporting a client at activities, clubs, or classes
  • Encouraging participation, motivation, and support at activities, clubs, or classes
  • Supporting older people to connect digitally

Supporting clients in their own home:

  • Assisting client in obtaining and completing various forms
  • Helping with activities such as light cooking, reading, etc., agreed upon between you and the client
  • Accompanying client on walks to increase independence and wellbeing
  • Accompanying client with grocery shopping
  • Supporting client with using and accessing the internet, phone, or TV

This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and a three months trial period
