What is expected of me?

  • Ability to demonstrate patience, sensitivity and reliability
  • Ability to identify problems and seek solutions
  • Ability to understand information by listening and reading
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to write legibly and keep intelligible notes and records
  • Ability to carry out basic calculations
  • Willingness to work according to guidelines and standards and to take a flexible approach to project requirements
  • Having an open minded approach to individuals, avoiding judgement and stereotypes
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to explain things clearly without jargon or being patronizing
  • Awareness of discriminatory practices and equal opportunities issues and a commitment to social justice and equity
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to work with AUKC staff and other agencies; and to seek and offer support
  • Willingness and interest in learning
  • Willingness to attend initial training, followed by on-going training where required
  • Willingness to attend support and supervision meetings as required
  • Ability to offer some flexibility to cover volunteer illness and holidays

Due to the nature of the role, a minimum of 6 months commitment is required.

Please note, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required
