Age Cymru's Consultative Forum was established in 2011, after extensive consultation across Wales.
Older people are at the heart of what we do. For this reason, Age Cymru developed the Consultative Forum to assist and advise the Board of Trustees of Age Cymru on the development and implementation of future policy of the charity.
The Consultative Forum
- provides guidance in relation to the key activities of Age Cymru;
- contributes to Age Cymru events and activities including conferences, policy development, publications, etc.;
- offers feedback about the overall strategic direction and operational activities of Age Cymru.
The Consultative Forum has a wide and diverse membership to ensure that a range of stakeholder and service user views and experience is available to the charity. The membership ensures involvement of organisations, groups and individual older people from across Wales and includes people who can make contributions from national, regional, local and individual perspectives. In addition to spaces allocated for specific national or regional groups, a number of individual members were recruited by public appointment. The Consultative Forum has a maximum of 40 members.
The elected chair of Consultative Forum also sits as a trustee on the Age Cymru Board.
We're recruiting new members
The Consultative Forum enables older people to be fully involved in our work and ensures that the strategic direction of Age Cymru is directly informed and influenced by older people. It advises on the development and implementation of the charity’s policy positions on ageing and older people. The forum also provides feedback about Age Cymru’s key activities and helps us to monitor and review our work.
We'd like to invite any older people who may be interested in joining our Consultative Forum to contact us. This is an opportunity to directly influence and contribute to the work of Age Cymru and make a difference to the lives of older people across Wales.
Whilst there is no payment for being a member, Age Cymru will cover out of pocket expenses incurred by members for attending meetings and events.
For more information about the Age Cymru Consultative Forum and about how to apply to be a member, please contact Kathy Lye on 029 2043 1555 or send Kathy an email
The deadline for receipt of applications is 22 July 2019.
The Consultative Forum meets 2 - 3 times a year at locations across Wales. In addition to the Trustee Chair, a Trustee of the Age Cymru Board attends the Consultative Forum to act as an additional link back to the Board. At every meeting the agenda includes one or two major policy items for discussion, chosen by Age Cymru.
