Age Cymru’s response to the Welsh Government’s announcement to provide £48million for the social care sector

Published on 21 October 2021 08:55 PM

Age Cymru’s chief executive Victoria Lloyd says: “We welcome today’s announcement from the Welsh Government to provide £48million funding to help the social care sector in Wales recover from the pandemic and the deputy minister’s recognition that the social care workforce, alongside thousands of unpaid carers, are exhausted from supporting the most vulnerable members of our communities throughout the pandemic.

“However, the social care sector in Wales was in need of increased investment long before the onslaught of the pandemic to ensure people receive support when and where they need it.

“We are keen to see a long-term sustainable solution to social care to help older people in Wales live a later life of quality and dignity and we look forward to seeing the plans Welsh Government bring forward to achieve this.”
