Age Cymru's statement on the conflict in Ukraine

Published on 04 March 2022 07:20 PM

As the result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the lives of millions of older people are at risk. Older people are disproportionately affected, and for those that have been left behind, the situation is particularly dangerous.

Older people are often unable to flee from conflict and are left alone without family or their wider community. They are isolated, without loved ones and cut off from support, including access to medicine and food. They are particularly exposed when violence breaks out, as they may not be able to shelter from danger
As the conflict in Ukraine escalates, The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and its member agencies, including Age International, have launched a humanitarian appeal to provide urgent assistance to those in need.

Time is critical and it's essential that we act fast to save as many lives as possible, so please support their appeal via one of the methods below.
