48 Winter Celebration Grants given out

Published on 02 March 2015 12:30 PM

We're very proud to announce that we were able to give Winter Celebration Grants to 48 groups across Wales this winter as part of our Spread the Warmth campaign.

Overall, we distributed £6,850 to groups to organise a get-together for potentially vulnerable older people during the winter months.

Age Cymru's Chief Executive, Ian Thomas says:

"It is time to take loneliness seriously.

"This is particularly true at times like Christmas and other anniversaries when we're often reminded of our lost loved ones.

"Our research shows that tens of thousands of older people in Wales dread the festive period because they miss loved ones who have passed away.

"Age Cymru's Winter Celebration Grants are one way that we can reach out to older people during the winter months and give them comfort, warmth and company at what can be a very difficult time of year."
