Operation Jasmine - Age Cymru response

Age Cymru is backing calls from Nick Smith MP for action following the collapse of the biggest investigation into abuse in care homes in the UK.

Operation Jasmine was looking at allegations of neglect at homes across South Wales.

Our Director of Influencing and Programme Development Victoria Lloyd says:

"Age Cymru supports the call for a public inquiry that would enable any lessons from the Operation Jasmine investigation to be learned in agencies and organisations across the country.

"Age Cymru has worked for a number of years through our elder abuse project and now our Safeguarding Programme to ensure that older people in Wales are protected from abuse wherever they reside.

"We continue to support the development of policy and practice that will reduce the incidence of abuse and to ensure it is dealt with effectively when it does occur."
