The Lord Mayor of Cardiff Cllr Professor Delme Bowen, officially opened the new Age Cymru Enterprises shop in Whitchurch this morning.

The shop, which is based at 58 Merthyr Road, provides tailor-made services and financial products for over-50s in the capital and the Vale of Glamorgan.

Opening the shop, Cllr Bowen said:

"Nowadays companies are increasingly using the internet to provide products and services to their customers.

"But many of us - particularly older people, like to speak to someone face-to-face when they're discussing their personal matters.

"This is why it is so encouraging to see a company such as Age Cymru Enterprises opening its shop at 58 Merthyr Road, to provide face-to-face services and products for older people in the area."

The Age Cymru Enterprises shop provides travel insurance; car insurance and motor breakdown cover and home insurance.

Other products available from the shop include funeral plans; gas and electricity; personal alarms as well as a wills and legacies services; an annuity service and equity release.

Age Cymru Enterprises is marking the official opening of its shop by running an open week from Monday 3 October to Friday 7 October.

Age Cymru Enterprises' Development Manager, George Burke explains:

"Everyone is welcome to come along to our open week for an informal chat with our arrangers Lorna Lewis and Sarah Armstrong.

"Whether you need a new product such as home, travel or car insurance, or even if you are thinking about organising your finances in later life, please pop in for a chat.

"Lorna and Sarah will be happy to speak to you - and they'll even make you a cup of tea if you ask them nicely."
