Age Cymru launches its 2013 awards

A Wales-wide search is on to find people who make a real difference to the lives of over 50s across the country.

Age Cymru has launched the Age Cymru Awards 2013, and there are five awards up for grabs.

Gwanwyn Award - to be presented to an individual or organisation that has made an exceptional contribution to Age Cymru's Gwanwyn festival of arts for over 50s.

My Home Life Cymru Award - to be awarded to a care home that recognises and epitomises the My Home Life Cymru's programme's ethos and approach.

Active Ageing Award - to be awarded to an organisation or individual who have made a significant improvement to their own or someone else's wellbeing.

Campaigner of the Year Award - to be awarded to the person who has made a unique contribution to Age Cymru's campaigns. 

Local Delivery Award - to be awarded to the Age Cymru partner charity that delivered incredible results for older people in their area.

Commenting on the launch of the awards, Age Cymru's Head of Marketing, Meryl Randell-Jones says:

"Every year, Age Cymru is privileged to work with incredible volunteers and participants through a range of programmes from healthy ageing to our arts festival.

"We want to celebrate the outstanding contributions that these individuals make to the lives of older people through the Age Cymru Awards.

"If you know of anyone who deserves to be acknowledged for the work they've done with Age Cymru, please contact us for nomination forms.

"The lucky winners will receive their awards at Age Cymru's glitzy gala dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff - it'll certainly be a night they'll remember for quite some time."
