Age Cymru responds to new Declaration of Rights

Responding to the launch of the Welsh Declaration of Rights of Older People, Victoria Lloyd, Director of Influencing and Programme Development says:
"Age Cymru welcomes and supports the establishment of a Welsh Declaration of the Rights of Older People.
"The number of older people in Wales is growing and it is vital that they know and are able to exercise their rights.
"We believe that the Declaration is an important means of clarifying the rights of older people in Wales, in a way that is accessible both to older people themselves and to organisations and services.
"We welcome the fact that the Welsh Declaration is based on the UN Principles for Older Persons as a set of key guiding principles.
"It is important that the Declaration is now widely promoted across Wales, and that older people and others are informed about what it means.
