Ageing Better Together

Age Cymru  is launching a national campaign to encourage healthy ageing for over 50s.

Ageing Better Together is a three-month long summer campaign that will be run annually by us.

Over the next three months we will be visiting public events across Wales and organising activities for over 50s to spread our health promotion messages.

Rhian Pearce, Age Cymru's Health Initiatives Officer says:

"Ageing Better Together is a new campaign to promote physical and mental wellbeing for older people.

"The campaign will feature four key areas - preventing falls; staying socially active; being fit and healthy and getting the most from services that are available for older people in their local area.

"As part of the campaign we will be promoting National Falls Awareness Week to partner organisations across Wales from 20- 24 June.

"We will also be visiting the Royal Welsh Show and the National Eisteddfod in Wrexham to offer practical information and advice to the public about staying healthy.

"Visitors to our stand will also be offered IT lessons so that they can find out about using the internet and getting the most out of it.

"Age Cymru will also be publishing two new information leaflets about emotional health and wellbeing and physical activity over the summer months as well as putting on a Nordic Walking event for the public in late August."

Rhian Pearce adds:

"Summer is an ideal time to think about improving your health and for getting involved in activities that can help you to get fitter.

She concludes:

"It's going to be a busy time for the staff at Age Cymru, but we're all really looking forward to getting out and about across Wales to meet the public to talk about healthy ageing."
