Published on 11 February 2016 02:30 PM

A Cardiff Bay pub opened its doors to older people from the across the city on Tuesday in support of our ‘Spread the Warmth' winter campaign.

Kind-hearted staff at the Mount Stuart treated 50 older people from around Cardiff to a free turkey dinner.

Wetherspoon's regional manager Richard Bond said:

"We were delighted to support Age Cymru's wonderful project.

"Our staff thoroughly enjoyed hosting the lunch and playing their part in making the event a great success."

84-year-old Bill Bus who came along to the event said:

"I don't go out often and I really enjoyed today. It was nice to see so many people having a good time."

Cathays resident, Lorna Birch who is 81 said:

"Some members of our group could potentially spend all day indoors by themselves, so events like today's dinner give them something to look forward to and a reason to get out of the house."

We'd like to say a very big thanks to JD Wetherspoon and the staff of the Mount Stuart for their kindness and generosity.
