Radio personality and entertainer Chris Needs will be the star guest at the launch of Age Cymru Afan Nedd in Port Talbot this afternoon.

Age Concern Port Talbot is changing its name and branding to become Age Cymru Afan Nedd at the town's Riverside Centre at 2.15pm today.

The charity's Chairman Meg Edwards says:

"We're very grateful to Chris Needs for finding the time in his busy diary to come along to our event.

"This is a very exciting time for our charity and a time of change, but Age Cymru Afan Nedd - as we will be known, will continue to provide support and services for people living in the Neath Port Talbot County Borough area.

"Local people can access our free, confidential information and advice service for advice on benefits and entitlements, debt problems and tax issues.

"Our Riverside centre also offers friendship, recreation and support and it's a great place to meet up with friends and try our three course lunch which is available daily for just £3.00 per person.

"We also offer a chiropody service, a haircutting service and we also hold a legal surgery every month.

"Being part of Age Cymru gives us the opportunity to work together with a country-wide network of local Age Cymru organisations, as well as the national charity Age Cymru to provide a wealth of benefits and opportunities for older people."

Age Cymru's Chief Executive Officer Robert Taylor, says:

"Age Concern Port Talbot is a fantastic charity and I am delighted that it has decided to join the Age Cymru family as a key partner to deliver our goal of improving later life for all.

"The combined strength, knowledge and know-how of Age Cymru on a national level combined with a vibrant network of local organisations such as the soon-to-be-renamed Age Cymru Afan Nedd, will provide strength and security in these difficult times."
