Falls awareness sessions in north and south Wales

Published on 03 February 2017 01:30 PM

We're teaming up with Age Connects Cymru and Care & Repair Cymru to run events for older people about ways to help prevent them falling over and injuring themselves.

Tuesday 7 February, 10.30am - 2.00pm: Conwy and Denbighshire Care & Repair, Unit 10/11 St Asaph Business Park,  Ffordd Richard Davies,  St Asaph,  LL17 OLJ.

Thursday 9 February, 10.30am - 2.00pm: Age Connects Torfaen, The Widdershins Centre, East Avenue, Griffithstown, Pontypool NP4 5AB.

500 older people suffer a fall each day in the UK - that's one every six and a half seconds, and the consequences can be life-changing.

"Anyone can have a fall, but falls are not an inevitable part of growing older", say Age Cymru's Health Initiatives Officer, Angharad Phillips.

"There are many home adaptations and services available to help prevent older people from falling, so please come along to our sessions and find out what's available.

"We'll have the kettle on and you can also come and try your hand at tai chi, have a foot pamper session, as well as learning more about how to prevent falls."
