Free training for Merthyr Tydfil and RCT residents

Published on 06 February 2014 04:00 PM

Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff residents can help older people in their area by volunteering to deliver Low Impact Functional Training (LIFT).

Free training will be provided to volunteers in LIFT - an accredited programme of physical activity for older adults developed by Age Cymru and delivered in the heart of the community.

This fun and gentle exercise is designed to enable older people to take part in a physical activity programme which will benefit their health and wellbeing.

This four day training course will be taking place on 4 - 5 and 11 - 12 March at University of South Wales, Treforest Campus in Pontypridd.

To apply for a FREE place, please contact Margot Deveraux at margot.deveraux@agecymru.org.uk or call 029 2043 1555.

The closing date is 18 February.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers to learn a new skill, while supporting older people in their own communities to enjoy physical activity.

Our Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff volunteers also offer talks to local pensioners' groups, covering topics like winter wellbeing, healthy eating and preventing falls.

We're currently looking for more volunteers to assist us in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff - if you're interested, please get in touch!
