Gwanwyn small grants programme

Published on 20 January 2012 08:30 AM

Arts and community groups can now apply for up to £500 in grants to stage events that will form part of an all-Wales arts festival for over 50s.

Organisers of the Gwanwyn festival from Age Cymru are hoping to encourage groups from across Wales to put on events to celebrate creativity among older people this May.

Phil Thomas from the Gwanwyn festival says:

"Gwanwyn is a month-long national festival held across Wales during May each year to encourage over 50s to get involved in the creative arts.

"This year we're offering small grants to groups who can organise an event which will give over 50s an opportunity to take part in or experience music, dance, drama, storytelling or any other creative arts."

Phil Thomas concludes:

"If your organisation or group is interested in staging an event that will encourage new members to join and offer older people an opportunity to perform, exhibit or display examples of their work to the public, then please get in touch."

Further details about the Gwanwyn Small Grants Programme can be found at www.gwanwyn.org.uk or by contacting the Gwanwyn festival on 029 2043 1555.

All funding applications must be received by 25 February.

Gwanwyn is a collaboration between key national organisations led by Age Cymru, the Arts Council of Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government.
