Mentoring Project Recognition Award

The Ageing Well in Wales programme was recently shortlisted for a Mentoring Project Recognition Award at the Supporting Life's Journeys Mentoring and Befriending Recognition Awards 2010.
Supporting Life's Journeys is a UK-wide movement bringing together thousands of people who support mentoring and befriending up and down the nation.
It will enable mentoring and befriending projects, volunteers and service users to highlight why mentoring and befriending matters and needs investment.
Claire Bottomley, Health Ageing Manager at Age Cymru, which coordinates the Ageing Well in Wales programme says:
"Ageing Well in Wales is a programme which promotes healthy living in Wales through investment in community groups and health enhancing programmes.
"It is a great honour for the Ageing Well in Wales to be shortlisted for the Mentoring Project Recognition Award.
"The Supporting Life's Journeys Mentoring and Befriending Recognition Awards 2010 was a great opportunity to recognise all the good work that is taking place across Wales within mentoring projects.
"I'm very proud that Ageing Well has been recognised for demonstrating excellent outcomes through mentoring and befriending to those who are vulnerable and socially isolated."
The Supporting Life's Journeys Mentoring and Befriending Recognition Awards 2010 event for Wales took place in Cardiff on Wednesday 17 November.
Huw Lewis AM, the Deputy Minister for Children for the Welsh Assembly Government presented a certificate to Claire Bottomley and Nona Hextor from Age Concern Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan at the ceremony in recognition to the Ageing Well in Wales programme's achievement.
