National Pensioners Convention Wales meeting

Age Cymru's Chief Executive - Robert Taylor, was one of the guest speakers at a meeting of the National Pensioners Convention Wales (NCPW) yesterday.

70 NCPW members turned up for the event which took place at the Cardiff Arms Park.

Other speakers were the Older People's Commissioner for Wales Ruth Marks, and Neil Duncan-Jordan from the National Pensioners Convention.

Says Phyllis Preece, of the National Pensioners Convention Wales:

"Robert Taylor from Age Cymru spoke about the charity's work to enable older people to influence and shape the world in which they live, and explained how the organisation's activities are directly influenced by the views and experiences of older people in Wales.

"The Older People's Commissioner for Wales Ruth Marks talked about her meeting with the NPCW at which they discussed the issues that matter to NPCW's members, her review into dignity and respect in hospitals and making sure that everyone's voices can be heard so that people get the services they need."

She adds:

"Neil Duncan-Jordan gave us a talk about the NPC's new Fair Care campaign to provide a national care service - much like the NHS, and a dignity code to cover the treatment of older people in any setting, from hospitals to the community, to set minimum standards to guarantee dignity."

Phyllis Preece concludes:

"We had a very good turnout for our meeting and our guest speakers who went down very well with our members".
