New Chair and Vice-Chair for AAW

Age Alliance Wales - a charity coalition that campaigns on older people's issues, has appointed a new Chair and Vice-Chair.
Richard Williams is now the Chairman of and Ceri Jackson is its Vice-Chair.
Commenting on his new role, Richard says:
"Age Alliance Wales is a powerful voice in improving the lives of older people in Wales.
"Given the amount of change in public services, it is more important than ever that the Alliance is able to use its influence to deliver better outcomes for the people we represent.
"I am delighted to be able to lead the Age Alliance Wales into its next phase.
"We have a strong and committed membership who work tirelessly to make a better Wales for older people.
"I am looking forward to working with the Alliance and our partners across different sectors in Wales to make a real difference to the lives of older people across the country."
Richard has been director of , the charity for deaf and hard of hearing people since 2008.
Before this he was a newspaper editor, editing the South Wales Echo and Wrexham Evening Leader.
Says Ceri Jackson of her appointment as Vice-Chair of Age Alliance Wales:
"Many older people in Wales are struggling: they're living in poverty; they're socially isolated; suffering from poor health; unable to access the services they need.
"Equally, many older people are fantastic, positive role models, playing active roles in their communities and proving that growing old does not have to be (and should not be) seen as something negative and to be feared.
"As individual organisations, Age Alliance Wales members do a huge amount to support those in need and champion the valuable contribution older people can and do play in our society.
"When we come together, however, we can do this even more powerfully.
"That is why I'm delighted to have been elected as Vice-Chair of Age Alliance Wales, and look forward to working with Richard and with member organisations to improve the lives of older people in Wales."
