No Regrets in Abertillery

Published on 27 June 2014 01:00 PM

Abertillery is to host 'No Regrets' - our exhibition that asks 50s "Do you regret your tattoo in older age?"

‘No Regrets', by Age Cymru's Gwanwyn arts festival opens at the Kickplate Gallery, 26 Church Street in Abertillery on 4 July at 6.30pm.

It features the photography of Michal Iwanowski and promises to deliver a positive and inspiring study of tattoos on older skin.

Our Arts & Creativity Development Officer Emma Robinson, says:

"The idea for ‘No Regrets' came from the notion that people who get tattoos are always told that they will regret them when they're older.

"As Gwanwyn is the Wales-wide, national arts festival for older people, I thought it would be interesting to ask older people if they really do regret their tattoo.

"I'm delighted that 'No Regrets' is now opening in Abertillery and I hope that it will challenge preconceptions on what it's like to be an older person in Wales."

'No Regrets' opens at the Kickplate Gallery, 26 Church Street in Abertillery on Friday 4 July at 6.30pm and it runs until 2 August.

The Welsh Government and Arts Council of Wales support Age Cymru to run the Gwanwyn festival.
