Older People's Commissioner's public services report

Published on 20 September 2012 12:30 PM

Responding to reports today that the Older People's Commissioner for Wales has said public bodies that let down older people could face prosecution, Age Cymru's Director of Influencing and Programme Development Victoria Lloyd says:

"Age Cymru supports this statement from the Older People's Commissioner for Wales, Sarah Rochira.

"There are tens of thousands, if not more, older people in Wales today who rely on support services provided by local authorities and other public services to allow them to live independently and with dignity.

"Getting what are sometimes  seen as ‘the little things' right can make a huge difference to our independence and our quality of life.

"This is why it is absolutely crucial that any shortcomings with older people's services are addressed so that the older people of today, and tomorrow, can have the peace of mind of knowing that they'll receive the support they require as and when they need it."
