Pension Credit unclaimed

Published on 15 March 2012 03:30 PM

Responding to reports that up to £2.8 billion in Pension Credit went unclaimed in 2009-2010, Age Cymru's Iwan Rhys Roberts says:

"It is a concern that so many people have failed to claim their full entitlement of Pension Credit.

"It is also very disappointing that there has been no progress in persuading older people to claim the benefits they are owed.

"Pension Credit is an income top-up for people who are retired and claiming it can make a big difference to someone's income and quality of life.

"We need concerted government action now to ensure that older people are claiming their full entitlement and move towards a system where benefits are paid automatically."
