RCT and Merthyr Tydfil volunteers needed

Published on 18 September 2014 11:00 AM

We are looking for volunteers across Rhondda Cynon Taff and Merthyr to help over 50s with online health checks.

‘Add To Your Life' is a free online health check set up to help over 50s to look at their own health and take steps to feel better and stay healthy and active.

Claire Bottomley, Healthy Ageing Manager says;

"We all want to age well and keep doing the things that we enjoy. The free and personalised 'Add To Your Life' health check can help people do that.

"We're supporting this exciting new NHS Wales health assessment service across Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil and we urgently need volunteers to help us deliver it to older people in their local communities.

"No prior knowledge is necessary, just the willingness to help others to   make a difference to their own health and wellbeing."

If you would like to volunteer in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil please contact Margot Deveraux - Age Cymru's Healthy Ageing Volunteer Co-ordinator on 029 2043 1555 or email ageingwell@agecymru.org.uk.

You can find out about the ‘Add To Your Life' programme and other volunteering opportunities at the Volunteer Action Merthyr Tydfil (VAMT) building, 89-90 High Street, Pontmorlais in Merthyr Tydfil on 7 October. You can also visit the Age Cymru shop in Pontypridd, 25 Taff Street (opposite Iceland) on 9 October.
