Response to increase in capital limits

Older people who currently fund their own residential care, as well as those who will fund their care in the future, will welcome today's announcement from the Minister for Social Services and Public Health.

Age Cymru welcomes the Welsh Government's approach in providing a clear statement that enables older people to plan how they will be able to meet their future residential care costs.

In light of the ageing population in Wales and current levels of unmet care needs, we hope that this announcement represents the first step in reforming the way we view and pay for social care and that it leads to a sustainable framework for social care funding in Wales. We believe that it is important to monitor the impact of this policy to ensure that older people are getting the help that they need.
