Spread the Warmth Celebrity Auction

Published on 19 March 2013 10:30 AM

Rhys Ifans, Carol Vorderman, Max Boyce and Derek Brockway are just some of the stars who've donated items to Age Cymru's Spread the Warmth Celebrity Auction.

We've also had goods from Lucy Owen, Andrea Byrne and Behnaz Akhgar; as well as Cardiff Blues and the Scarlets; Strictly Come Dancing's Anton du Beke and Erasure star Andy Bell.

But the star lot in the fundraising auction is a coat given to Age Cymru by the late Brian Hibbard.

Our Director of Income Generation Richard Nicholls, says:

"We've got a The Amazing Spider-Man t-shirt signed by Rhys Ifans; a coat from Carol Vorderman; and a copy of Max Boyce's ‘The Mad Pursuit of Applause' book and a signed photo.

"Derek Brockway's given us his hat; Behnaz Akhgar's donated her pashmina scarf; Cardiff Blues and The Scarlets have given us autographed tops, and Andrea Byrne and Lucy Owen have both donated two coats each to us.

"On top of that, we've also had items given to us by Anton du Beke and Andy Bell, but the real gem among our lots this year is undoubtedly a black and red leather biker jacket presented to us by Brian Hibbard."

The late Flying Pickets singer, film and TV star gave Age Cymru a biker jacket last year that he wore on the Emma Thompson show in 1988.

It comes with a photograph of Brian and Hollywood star Emma Thompson in which he is wearing the jacket.

The Age Cymru Spread the Warmth Celebrity Auction is currently running on eBay.

It ends on Monday 25 March with bidding on each individual lot finishing between 10.39am and 3.56pm.

Money raised by the auction will go towards our Spread the Warmth campaign which aims to make winter a better time for older people.

Richard Nicholls comments:

"Age Cymru has been very lucky to benefit from the generosity of our celebrity supporters yet again this year - we've had some great lots from some very famous Welsh people.

"So please get online and show your support for Age Cymru and our Spread the Warmth appeal, by bidding on your favourite celebrity lot."

The Spread the Warmth campaign provides practical help and support for older people across during the winter months.
