Spreading the warmth this winter

Published on 08 December 2015 03:00 PM

This winter, we've given Spread the Warmth grants to support organisations around Wales to help older people keep warm, safe and well.

Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn is running winter health events and helping local older people to apply for discounts on their winter heating bills.

East Cardiff, Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn (ECLP) Communities First is giving older people advice on how to make their money go further, foot care, home adaptations, and preventing slips trips and falls.

Groundwork North Wales is organising ‘Soups and stews' sessions and visits from its ‘Green Doctor' to offer advice to over 65s in Flintshire and Wrexham on how to cut their energy bills.

RCT Homes is handing out parcels containing warm hats, scarves, gloves, recipe cards and health information at its sheltered housing schemes and ones run by Rhondda Housing.

The Llanfyllin Group Practice Patient Participation Group (PPG) in north Powys will soon be organising coffee mornings where local older residents can find out about keeping well in winter.
