'Thank you' to Gwent Young Dragons

Published on 26 February 2014 04:30 PM

Gwent Young Dragons have quite literally given the coats off their own backs to support a local charity shop.

The group today donated coats they have collected to the Age Cymru shop in Monmouth, as part of our ‘Donate a Coat' appeal.

Young Dragons are made of up representatives from uniform youth groups, including Gwent Police Cadets, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service Cadets, Scouts, Guides, St John Ambulance, Navy Sea Cadets, Air Cadets and Army Cadets.

Inspector Roland Giles of Gwent Police said:

"The Young Dragons are delighted to support Age Cymru's Spread the Warmth campaign.

"Young people from each of the groups within Young Dragons were keen to donate coats and help to give something back to their local community."

Donate a Coat is part of Age Cymru's Spread the Warmth campaign to make winter warmer for tens of thousands of older people across Wales.

Carol Hoskins, Manager of the Age Cymru shop in Monmouth says:

"We're very grateful to the Young Dragons for their generosity and support for Age Cymru's Donate a Coat appeal.

"Money raised by the Donate a Coat appeal helps fund our work to provide older people with information, advice and practical services so that they can stay warm and well in winter."

Age Cymru's shop in Monmouth accepts items including clothing, household items, DVDs, CDs and books.
