Which? insurance survey

Published on 24 April 2012 09:00 AM

South Wales's over-50s can buy car and home insurance products that have been rated 100% by Which? Magazine, from Age Cymru Enterprises Ltd.

The consumer magazine investigated home and car insurance providers to look at hidden fees for policy changes, and found:

• Car and home insurance products sold by Age Cymru Enterprises Ltd were among some of the very few available that allow customers to pay by monthly instalments at no extra cost;
• Customers were able to make changes to their car and home insurance policies bought from Age Cymru Enterprises Ltd without having to pay an administration fee;

Age Cymru's Development Manager George Burke says:

"We're absolutely delighted about this result.

"We believe that the price a customer is quoted is the price they should pay, and that they should have the option to make adjustments to their policy if their personal circumstances change without being penalised.

"We want to make sure our customers get what they expect and don't receive any unpleasant surprises and it's great to see that our efforts are recognised by Which?"

Age Cymru Enterprises Ltd has offices at the following locations:

Which? reviewed the terms and conditions on the websites of 39 car insurers and 34 home insurers and found there were often costly fees to make straightforward changes to policies.

Some companies also charged customers for renewing or cancelling their policies.

The Which? Magazine investigation discovered that some companies charged as much as 29.3% and 32.3% interest for people wanting to pay for their policy in installments.

Age UK Enterprises car and home insurance products both scored 100% in the survey.
