Whitchurch tops Cardiff's DIY league

Published on 23 September 2015 01:30 PM

Residents of the Whitchurch area of Cardiff are seemingly the most DIY-conscious in the city.

They've topped the league of areas most visited by our HandyVan service, which helps older people make their homes safer and more secure.

The HandyVan service is sponsored by gas distribution company, Wales & West Utilities, and is available to people in areas of Cardiff and Penarth who require small home adaptations to improve their quality of life.

Sean Overbury, Age Cymru's HandyVan Fitter says:

"Over the last two years I've made around 1,200 visits in the HandyVan to older people around Cardiff and Penarth and helped make them feel safer and more secure in their homes.

"I've installed countless home safety products such as carbon monoxide detectors which have been provided by Wales & West Utilities, which help to protect from the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning as well as home security products such door locks, window locks and door chains."
