World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
An estimated 39,000 older people in Wales have experienced abuse in their own homes.
Yesterday, which has been signed by nearly 6,000 people and organisations to Gwenda Thomas AM, the Deputy Minister for Social Services.
The Rule Out Abuse charter is calling for a new law to be introduced to force local authorities to investigate cases of abuse or potential abuse.
Age Cymru's Rhea Stevens says:
"World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is an important opportunity to remind society that elder abuse any way, shape or form is wrong.
"You do not have to tolerate harassment, intimidation or being talked down to by anyone.
"If you are being mistreated in any way then you have a right to speak up, or make a complaint.
"If you feel abused or know somebody else who is being mistreated, call your local council adult protection team.
"If you are in immediate danger you should call the police on 999."
