WASP Summit

Thank you to everyone who attended and spoke at the recent Wales Against Scams Partnership (WASP)  national Scams Summit on 28 September 2018.

WASP is working to help better protect people in Wales from scams and fraud and to support victims. We believe that Wales can lead in presenting a united front against scams and making itself a hostile country to scammers.

The summit brought together key stakeholders in the fight against financial abuse, identified the scale of the problem and how agencies and interested parties can work together to protect people from unsolicited calls in Wales.

We're developing a conference report that will be published in due course.

The summit:

  • identified how to empower citizens in Wales to avoid becoming a victim of nuisance calls, mail or doorstep crime
  • identified what actions the Welsh Government and UK Government can take to reduce the problem
  • considered what actions the telephony companies, internet service providers and postal services can take
  • considered how WASP members and other interested parties can work together to limit the impact of nuisance calls, mail or doorstep crime.
