Help with Power of Attorney

We all wonder, occasionally, what would happen if we had an accident or an illness that meant we couldn’t make our own decisions any longer. Who would make those decisions for us?

With a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA), you can appoint one or more people whom you trust to help you make decisions or to make decisions on your behalf, should the worst happen.

Types of LPA

There are two types of LPA:

• health and welfare, giving your attorney the power to make decisions about things like medical care; moving into a care home; and, life-sustaining treatment, and
• property and financial affairs, giving your attorney the power to make decisions about money and property for you, for example: managing a bank or building society account; paying bills; collecting benefits or a pension; and, selling your home.

You can choose to make one type or both.

Our Lasting Power of Attorney service is available to adults living in the Western Bay region. 

Our dedicated Lasting Power of Attorney Advisor will help you to understand the process, choose your attorneys, and ensure that everything is in place before the document(s) is registered.

Our fees

Help to draw up one Lasting Power of Attorney – £210 (Inc.VAT)

Help to draw up both Lasting Power of Attorneys – £285 (Inc.VAT)

The fees for our service do not include the additional cost of registering the document, which are £82.00 for one Lasting Power of Attorney, and £164 for both.

In addition to LPA Service fees, you will have to pay additional Court fees to the Office of the Public Guardian.

If you are on a means tested benefit you may be fees exempt and not have to pay Court fee.
