Healthy Footsteps for 50 Plus was launched in March 2007 to encourage people to take exercise through walking in their local environments and at the same time build friendships through social chatter during and after the walks.
Our weekly walks programme offers a range of diverse walks across the Dudley Borough, catering for different ability levels. It's an ideal opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet other people and have a cuppa whilst keeping active and improving your mobility. See bottom of page for our quarterly programme.
We have a team of trained and dedicated volunteer Walk Leaders/Support who help to plan, assess and lead a range of walks within and just outside the borough.
Most of our walk routes are within reach of bus routes but there are a few that are not and can only be accessed by car.
There will be an opportunity for a cuppa on the majority of our walks.
We deliver regular walks as follows:
Walks from 1 hour to 1½ hours duration, mostly around the Stourbridge area with a few going further a-field to Halesowen or Kinver. On the first Monday of each month, walks start from the Hub Building at Mary Stevens Park, Stourbridge, DY8 1AA.
These take place fortnightly with the majority starting from Dell Stadium, Bryce Road, Pensnett, DY5 4NE. They are generally 1 hours duration, however if you are new to walking we offer 30 minute gentle walks which can be extended to suit individual needs.
Books On the Move
Are you a casual reader, a serious reader or maybe want to get back into reading? All are welcome. READING and WALKING are both good for your health so please come along to our 'Walk and Talk Book Club'. We are working in partnership with Dudley Libraries and the sessions are held monthly at different library locations. Please see our Healthy Footsteps Programme for more information.
