Our carers respite service was established in 2003 by Age UK East Grinstead, the County Council and the Alzheimer’s Society. It was initially designed to support carers or family members of those living with dementia or memory loss but now also caters for the elderly and frail.

The clubs give carers/family members the opportunity to have a break from their caring role, either by leaving their loved ones in the capable hands of our friendly staff, or by attending the session together - letting someone else do the hard work!  Members enjoy a range of activities including arts & crafts, music, cooking, quizzes, games and more.

The Saturday Club operates on the first and third Saturday of each month, between 10am and 3.30pm (morning and afternoon slots available).

A freshly prepared, two course meal is available at each session at a cost of £6.00.  Carers/family members are welcome.

For more information please contact the Carers Short Breaks Coordinator, Kate Strong, on 01342 327046 or email

Our services are currently subsidised by West Sussex County Council Carers Short Breaks Grant.
