Age UK East Sussex will be celebrating the important support our volunteers provide vulnerable and elderly clients who are being discharged from Hospital. Our volunteers provide a range of Home Support to enable clients to make the transition from Hospital back to their homes. Age UK East Sussex are delighted to confirm that the Worshipful Mayor of Hastings, Cllr Nigel Sinden, will be attending our thank you event at Sussex College on Tuesday 4th June to recognise the role played by our volunteers in providing this vital service for local, older residents.
◾Admin support in our Footcare and Day services – could you offer a few hours a week to help support the co-ordination of our vital services?
◾Bus driver/escort for our day service – are you an experienced/qualified driver who could help transport our clients from their home to our day centres in Peacehaven and Newhaven?
◾Volunteers for our Healthy Living Clubs - you will help older people attending our clubs Hastings, Hampden Park and Rye to feel welcome and encourage them to take part in activities.
◾Volunteers in Home from Hospital service – you will support an older, local person, who has been discharged from hospital and needs help with basic domestic tasks (shopping, helping make the bed, a chat over tea).
◾Volunteers in our Community Navigator Service – working in partnership with GP practices in the Haven’s, Lewes and the Weald you will provide one-to-one support to older people who visit their GP for reasons that are more to do with feeling lonely and isolated than medical.
◾Charity Shops - we require shop assistants in our Charity Shops in Hastings, Bexhill, Lewes, Langney and Brighton, a warehouse assistant in Newhaven and a gardener in Hampden Park.
If any of these opportunities are of interest please visit our volunteers page or call us on 01273 476704.
