On 15 January 2018 Age UK East Sussex was proud that it’s Information Centre in Hastings was awarded with a plaque from the Hastings and St Leonards Dementia Alliance. Presented by the Deputy Mayor of Hastings, Councillor Nigel Sinden, the award recognises the Information Centre as a Dementia haven.
Situated in a central location at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre in Hastings the Age UK East Sussex Information Centre provides information and advice for local residents aged over fifty including those living with dementia. Now recognised as a ‘haven’ people living with dementia and their friends, family and carers can be confident to find the help and support when they need it.
Steve Hare, Chief Executive of Age UK East Sussex explains: “In East Sussex there are around 10,000 people living with dementia with this figure projected to rise to 13,000 in 2021. Our charity has a long tradition of supporting people living with dementia and I am pleased that our Information Centre has been recognised as a destination offering vital advice and support.
