We offer a range of services and groups for people with dementia and carers, These include:

  • Exeter Singalongs (fortnightly)

Regular singing sessions reminiscing with music from Vera Lynn through to Sinatra, The Beatles and Abba. Tea and coffee provided.

This service offers support and practical help to older people, including those with dementia, to help maintain their independence at home.

  • Budding Friends

Budding Friends is a social gardening and art therapy group for people living with a dementia and their carers.

Members spend as much time as possible during the year outside on the group allotment, but the British weather doesn’t stop them meeting during the colder months. It offers the opportunity to partake in unique art experiences. It also organises trips to local attractions, such as National Trust gardens, and occasionally go out for meals at local pubs and restaurants.

  • Sycamore Days

Structured day sessions offering stimulating activities, a hot meal, and friendship for people with dementia.

“Our trained team of staff are on hand to provide a safe and stimulating environment, providing reassurance for you to leave your loved ones with us while you complete those day to day tasks or catch up on things you have been meaning to do for a while.”

It offers a social gathering and activities for people with dementia and their friends and family.

Meet and Remember – Beacon Heath.

This group meets weekly throughout the year for older people to chat, reminisce, and enjoy time together.

“Join us for coffee, film and tv clips, quizzes, discussions, family history, to make friends and enjoy lunch every Thursday at the Devon Yeoman pub in Beacon Lane, Beacon Heath”.

Sporting Memories – St James Park

This is run by Exeter City FC Community Trust and takes place between 10.00 – 12.00 every Thursday at St James Park.

It supports older people using the power of sport — including football, to spark conversation, reminiscence, and connection.

Remember That Song – St Thomas (weekly, term time)

Remember that Song is a group for people in the early to moderate stages of dementia and their carers. It meets weekly in term-time to make music, sing a range of well-known songs and learn new ones in a friendly, relaxed and informal setting.

Exeter Golden Oldies,

Sing-alongs to the popular memory-evoking hits of the 50s onwards .... SONGS and SMILES lie at the heart of all we do. Those attending the sessions are older people living in community housing, adults with learning difficulties and people living with dementia – everyone is welcome at a Goldies session.
Held on the third Monday of each month from 2.00pm -3.00pm at Newcourt Community Centre - Green Room
 
 
 
 

The Ness Care Group

The Ness Care Group provides specialist, clinically led support for people experiencing memory changes and dementia, with a focus on early and middle stages.
Support includes small group Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, which is recommended by the NHS, alongside advice, coaching and guidance for individuals and families, professional training, and online support across Devon and beyond. CST is a structured, evidence based approach that supports thinking, communication and everyday confidence, delivered by trained facilitators with specialist knowledge of dementia and cognitive health.

The Filo Project

The Filo project provides day care for older people in small group settings in hosts own homes. It provides homely environments, and highly individualised support. They offer support across Devon.

Transport is included in our service which allows us to reach even those most rurally located.

Admiral Nurses visiting the Nationwide Building Society Exeter

The Nationwide Building Society are hosting Admiral Nurse Clinics, confidential appointments with special dementia nurses. These clinics provide expert support for individuals affected by dementia, including advise on diagnosis, emotional support, and practical care strategies. Appointments last 45 minutes and can be booked online or by contacting the Dementia UK Helpline
