The East Exe Day Care Service is for older people with a physical frailty or disability who would like to socialise in a friendly and supportive environment.
It’s nearly three years since we opened the East Exe centre at Sycamores, Mount Pleasant and it’s still as popular as ever! Sue and her team make sure there’s always something interesting going on for those who enjoy a range of activities, but there’s always a quiet corner to read a paper or enjoy a chat too. Watch our 'Before and after' video to see the transformation.
This service is for older people who live in the East of the City. Referrals can come through Adult Social Care (Social Services), or you can self-refer and pay for the day yourself. You can come along for an informal visit first to see how you get on. There is no obligation, so give us a ring if you would like to find out more! Contact details are below.
Our friendly staff and volunteers offer a programme of optional activities, laughter and chat to ensure an interesting and entertaining day in a supportive environment. We have a cook on the premises who produces a varied menu that can be adjusted for specific dietary requirements if necessary. Staff assistance with meals is available if required.
We have a visiting hairdresser who attends on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
There is use of a shower with a hoist and trained staff to assist.
This is used by a GPs and Community Nurses if people attending need treatment while they are with us.
We have a lovely bright and safe outside seating area for those who enjoy a bit of fresh air or enjoy watching the birds and squirrels!
Days open: Monday - Thursday 10.00am - 3.30pm
Cost of the day and referrals: Please contact us for information on prices and transport; plus details of possible support from Devon County Council's Adult Social Care.
