Published on 05 June 2019 08:56 AM

Bonjour! Ken goes the extra mile!

Age UK Gateshead Support Worker and Volunteer, Ken Bell, will be going the extra mile to keep Age UK Gateshead on the road.

Starting on July 15th to July 31st Ken's travels will take him from Gateshead, through the great British countryside and cities until he says 'Bonjour' to Paris on July 31st. The marathon cycle ride is to help raise £10,000 towards a new mini-bus for Age UK Gateshead & Newcastle.

Ken, a former police officer with the Metropolitan Police said 'Age UK Gateshead & Newcastle do incredible work and I want to support their work by helping them raise funds to buy a mini-bus to provide much needed transportation. What better way to do it than staying fit and raising money - its a win win situation.

Age UK Gateshead are hoping to bring on board local businesses to support the charity ride. Chief Executive of Age UK Gateshead, Ian Wolstenholme said "We're really grateful to Ken for undertaking this fantastic fundraiser, we hope that local businesses in our region will sponsor the bike ride, which in turn will support older people in our local communities, so we can raise the £10,000 even quicker'.

Any local businesses wishing to support the event can ring Ian Wolstenholme at Age UK Gateshead on 0191 477 3559 or email Ian.Wolstenholme@ageukgateshead.org.uk.
