Donate to help people like Lyn this winter

Lyn's local Age UK helped her get her independence back. That's only possible with your support.

After experiencing a stroke and subsequent seizures, 74-year-old Lyn was worried she would never walk again.

A keen traveller in her younger days, Lyn was now housebound. She was referred by her GP to Age UK Croydon, who visited her at home to talk about what she wanted to achieve. Lyn’s main goal was to build her confidence to step over her front door steps, and go out in her van.

Age UK Croydon worked with Lyn to build her confidence with walking, and helped her find steps to help her get into her van. This meant Lyn was able to go out with her daughter again.

Lyn says: "I found the service fantastic. Without it, I would not have the steps to get into my van. Now I can go out again."
