Join our online community today
Gloucestershire Springboard is a Facebook group for older people and those supporting them, to stay in touch with each other, as well as with Age UK Gloucestershire and some of the individuals and organisations working with us. The group provides reassurance, information and ideas as well as some online activity.
Established back in March, when the pandemic meant people were no longer able to meet in public spaces, such as libraries and community centres, the Springboard Facebook Group aims to reach as many people as possible across the county. Group membership is growing every day, with people connecting and enjoying the friendship and activities on offer. So far, members have enjoyed everything from quizzes to live cookery demonstrations and even a virtual disco. Alongside the activities, there’s general chit-chat, fun and sharing of stories and experiences.
Every Tuesday morning we have our “Cuppa with Jane” – a chance to members to gather for a chat on Zoom. And, on the first Tuesday of each month there’s “IT and Tea” Zoom with our Digital Connections Volunteers, helping with queries such as emails, Facebook, software update questions and more.
The Group also enjoy contributions from local creative people, such as a county historian and a theatre group, so there really is something for everyone to enjoy.
How to join
The Group is private and moderated by Age UK Gloucestershire. Older people around the county who use Facebook, can request membership by looking for Gloucestershire Springboard or visiting https://www.facebook.com/groups/gloucestershirespringboard
