We rely on volunteers to help us offer vital services to older people in our local community, and we can always use more hands on deck.

Could you lend a helping hand to those who need it most?

Why volunteer for Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham?

Older people in our community are facing some tough times and need your help. It's not just the older people affected by this—it's everyone around them. A ripple effect happens when older people don't have access to the services and support they need.

We're on a mission to ensure that older people can get the care and support they need to maintain their independence for as long as possible. We believe that everyone deserves to feel happy, safe and secure.

You can help us make this happen by volunteering with us!

There are lots of different ways you can get involved as a volunteer. We will ask for a short, medium or long-term commitment depending on the project. You will have the opportunity to meet new people and the pleasure of knowing you are helping others who need it.

All you need is some spare time—and a passion for helping others—we'll take care of the rest.

All of our current volunteering opportunities are listed below. If you would like to get involved or find out more about it, please get in touch with our Volunteer Manager, Emily, by emailing emily@ageukhf.org.uk.

Volunteering roles with Age UK Hammersmith and Fulham

Who can volunteer?

Almost anyone can be a volunteer. We have a wide range of roles that suit different people and skills.

Our volunteers are as diverse as the community we serve, ranging in age from 18 to 80. Some roles (such as befriending) require a regular weekly commitment, whereas others are more casual.

All volunteers occupy a position of trust, and since much of our work is with vulnerable people, we use the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to help us to ensure their safety and well-being. This means that as well as providing references, you will be asked to show some forms of identification to verify the details you give. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from volunteering with us.

Please get in touch with our volunteer coordinator at emily@ageukhf.org.uk for further information.

How much time do I need to give?

Our roles are varied, so whether you only have a few hours to spare or a whole day, please get in touch, and we can find a position to suit you. It takes time to recruit, induct and train our volunteers, so we ask for a minimum commitment of six months to a year. Please explore the roles above to find out more about time commitments.
