Colourful fundraisers turned out in their droves for the second Age UK Isle of Wight Powder Run on Saturday 7th September 2019, with over 200 people taking on the 2km fun obstacle course, getting covered in every colour of the rainbow at 7 powder stations.
The event, held as part of Porchfield Cricket Club’s Annual Fun Day, is an opportunity for all ages to have fun while raising money for a great local charity. It is a truly family-friendly community event, with people coming from all over the Island to take part and support the runners, while each powder station is sponsored and manned by a local Island business.
Elisha Leachman, Fundraising Manager at Age UK Isle of Wight, said:
“We are so grateful to everyone who came along and supported this year’s Powder Run, it was amazing to see so many runners of all ages having a great time and getting covered in powder! This is one of our favourite events, it’s so much fun and the atmosphere on the day was fantastic.
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to all of our sponsors and Porchfield Cricket Club for their continued support, it means so much to our charity. With their support we have raised over £2,500 so far with more to come from sponsorship. Every penny Age UK Isle of Wight receives stays on the Island and goes directly to helping older Islander’s to love later life. Thank you to everyone again and we hope to see you at the Powder Run next year!”
