Published on 26 November 2021 06:43 PM

Bembridge Village Band held their 20th Birthday Charity concert on Sunday 21st November, after a delay of two years due to covid, all proceeds going to AgeUK Isle of Wight.  Proceeds are currently being totted up and the grand total will be announced soon.

Anne Jee, Age UKIW Volunteer who attended the event on behalf of Age UKIW, reported:

Wonderful music from Bob Dylan via opera, jazz, and musicals to British Legion ending with 'We'll meet again' conducted by Angela Holland, her son John, a talented musician and singer acting as Master of Ceremonies, who also made the fabulous anniversay cake! There were also solos by band members Sue and Irene with Amy and Angela singing the Flower Duet from Lakme.

In the interval John cut the  three tiered cake, that was then shared out with all the participants before moving to the second half of the performance.

Elisha Leachman AUKIW Fundraising & Communications Manager said:

We are so so greatful for the continued support recieved by the Bembridge Village Band. Their valued support is enabling Age UK Isle of Wight to continue to provide support and companionship to our older Island residents. We would also like to thank our wonderful volunteers including Anne Jee who kindly spoke on behalf of our charity last weekend.

The band's next performance will be on Sunday 5th June 2022 as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations and they are looking forward to seeing you all there!
