Who have you spoken to today? Maybe you had a chat with your partner over breakfast, or said hello to a neighbour. Perhaps you phoned a friend. Think of all the people you have spoken to today, the past week & the past month.
Now think about how silent life would be if you removed all of those conversations. If television or radio was your only company, all day, every day, and even on Christmas day.
That’s what life is like for more than a million older people who are chronically lonely, who don’t have someone to share daily life with, many of whom will be entirely alone this Christmas.
Loneliness is a growing problem for older people on our Island. 1 in six older islanders live alone.
There are isolated older people everywhere, who perhaps because of bereavement or family living far away, are utterly alone.
We are working hard to provide services all year round, as well as Christmas, to help those who are alone in our community.
You can help us to continue this vital work by visiting No One Should Have No One and donating online today, or by texting NOEL44 £5 to 70070 to donate £5 and help Age UK Isle of Wight provide companionship and support for more older islanders not only at Christmas, but all year round.
Age UK Isle of Wight are proud to announce that once again Megan Baker Estate Agents are kindly supporting our No One Should Have No One At Christmas campaign.
