Who have you spoken to today? Maybe you had a chat with your partner over breakfast, or said hello to a neighbour. Perhaps you phoned a friend. Think of all the people you have spoken to today, the past week & the past month.
Now think about how silent life would be if you removed all of those conversations. If television or radio was your only company, all day, every day, and even on Christmas day.
That’s what life is like for more than a million older people who are chronically lonely, who don’t have someone to share daily life with, many of whom will be entirely alone this Christmas.
Loneliness is a growing problem for older people on our Island. There are isolated older people everywhere, who perhaps because of bereavement or family living far away, are utterly alone.
We are working hard to provide services all year round, as well as Christmas, to help those who are alone in our community.
You can help us to continue this vital work by visiting No One Should Have No One or by texting Noel44 £3 to 70070 to donate £3 and help Age UK Isle of Wight be there for someone this Christmas.
Age UK Isle of Wight is proud to announce that once again Megan Baker Estate Agents are kindly supporting our No One Should Have No One At Christmas campaign.
We also our Christmas fundraising events that you can get involved with and support, including our Christmas Film Festival and a Penguin Plunge!
Age UK Isle of Wight provides a range of services and your gift will go where the need is greatest. If you donate by text, you will be charged £3 plus your standard network rate. Age UK Isle of Wight will receive 100% of your donation.
You can find out more below about the work we do and how your donation will support us to keep on reaching out to lonely older people on the Isle of Wight.
