Recruiting Trustees

Published on 12 November 2021 03:44 PM

Age UK Islington is looking for experienced individuals to sit on its trustee board. As a successful charity with the core purpose of improving the wellbeing of people in and around Islington, you would be joining a board of trustees that is passionate about connecting and supporting people aged 16 and above in the borough. Through recent growth in our service offering, we are proudly supporting Islington residents over 50, between 16-50 and Islington carers. We are an independent charity and operate as part of the national Age UK Network.

Details of our services are here: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/islington/our-services/

We are looking for trustees who want to be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the charity and the ongoing management of the delivery of that strategy.

We are recruiting now as a number of trustees will step down shortly, having completed their terms.  We are particularly looking for individuals with skills or experience in any of the following areas:

- Experience as a carer or someone who has previously received support in this area

- NHS/Medical experience

- Legal experience

- HR experience

- Technology/digital experience

- Fundraising experience

Ideally, you will have experience in one of the above areas and of different governance environments.

We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds – Age UK Islington is committed to enhancing the diversity of the organisation at all levels. As we are an Islington-based charity, applications from Islington and surrounding areas will be prioritised.

Details of the current trustee board can be found here: https://www.ageuk.org.uk/islington/about-us/our-team/our-trustees/

The board meets six times a year, typically on a Monday at 5.30pm. As Covid regulations change, it is expected that these board meetings are likely to be in person, however they are currently held remotely. Board members are also invited to join one of our sub-committees of the board; the Finance committee and the Governance committee. The Finance committee meets six times a year, prior to the board meeting, and the Governance committee meets quarterly.

To apply, please send an expression of interest and your CV to one of our trustees, Lexi Sears, at lexisears@hotmail.com. Lexi will be very happy to answer any questions or discuss the opportunities with prospective applicants.
