Location:         Flexible within Lancashire

Salary:             £20,613 to £21,250 FTE on successful completion of probationary period

Hours:             28 or 35hrs - to be agreed with successful applicant – working 4 or 5 days a week

Term:               12 Months fixed contract

Age UK Lancashire is looking for a knowledgeable individual to join as an adviser within our Information & Advice Service for older adults in Lancashire.

  • Do you have previous experience in an advice service?
  • Do you have an extensive understanding of welfare benefits for older people?
  • Are you self-motivated with a positive can-do attitude?
  • Are you caring, understanding and able to empathise with older people and their families and carers?
  • Are you able to engage with a wide range of contacts to establish sustainable referral pathways?
  • Are you able to work remotely with minimal supervision?

If so, we’re seeking an individual who can work as part of our team, offering information and advice to older people on a variety of topics including welfare benefits, social care, housing, energy efficiency and scams awareness.

This role is best suited to an enthusiastic self-starter with excellent communication skills who enjoys working in a values-based organisation to improve the lives and make a difference to older people in Lancashire.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Positive, solution focussed and ‘can do’ attitude
  • Experience of delivering a quality advice service
  • Experience of working to and meeting targets
  • Determination to achieve high standards of customer care
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Flexibility and able to manage conflicting priorities

The nature of the post will require travel across the area. A full driving licence, appropriate insurance cover and use of a car are essential.

DBS: This post is eligible for an enhanced DBS check and all the associated costs will be met by the employee. The cost for the DBS check is £40 plus an additional administration charge of £5.50 totalling £45.50. This amount will be deducted from an employees first salary with Age UK Lancashire.
